OriMar Bikes is a bike rental business based in the Orihuela Costa and Mar Menor area of Murcia, Spain, run solely by its owner. It started life in 2018 as Murcia Bike Hire, with a simple idea: give visitors to the region a premium way to explore on two wheels, delivered straight to their door instead of making them come to a shop.

As it grew, it moved away from general bike rental toward high-end cycling experiences, which led to the rebrand as OriMar Bikes. Today the fleet is split between BMC ‘Teammachine’ SLR carbon road bikes for serious cyclists and Fiido electric bikes for leisure riders, delivered to hotels, golf resorts, villas, and apartments across the coast, with accessories such as bottle cages, repair kits, and pumps included. Its main customers are vacationers from the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and France, ranging from club cyclists on training camps to couples wanting an easy coastal ride.

Before Booqable, the business ran on WooCommerce, held together by several plugins, all trying to do what a single rental system could handle on its own, with every update carrying the risk of something breaking. Moving to Booqable meant the website could connect through a simple shortcode, while deliveries, contracts, and bookings could all be managed from anywhere using the mobile point of sale.

Signing contracts from a smartphone

Running a delivery-only bike rental business means there’s no counter for customers to sign paperwork. Every bike is handed over at a hotel, villa, or resort, often with the customer eager to head out. That makes it difficult to rely on separate systems or printed forms for something as important as a signed agreement.

With Booqable’s mobile point of sale, a contract can be generated on the spot from a phone or tablet at the moment of delivery. The customer signs there and then, an email with the signed contract is sent automatically, and the agreement is stored in the back office before the rider is even on their way.

This matters for a one-person operation in a few ways:

  • No need to juggle separate apps while standing on a customer’s doorstep

  • Contracts are signed and filed before the customer has even left

  • Nothing depends on remembering to upload anything later

As the owner put it, the app gets used for “managing delivery and collection, taking payment and getting signed contract agreements.” For someone delivering bikes alone across an entire coastline, that’s one less thing to think about at every handover.

Managing deliveries on the go

Delivering bikes across hotels, golf resorts, villas, and apartments spread along the coast means planning routes carefully, especially with more than one drop-off a day. Getting from a villa to a golf resort to another hotel in the right order takes more than guesswork.

Booqable’s mobile point of sale lets an order be entered as a delivery, and a single tap opens the suggested route in Maps. Dates can also be amended on the same screen if a guest changes plans, which happens often on cycling vacations.

For OriMar Bikes, this has meant:

  • Less time working out the best order for the day’s drop-offs

  • Fewer mix-ups when a booking changes at short notice

  • A smoother pick-up at the end of a rental for everyone involved

The owner also uses the app for amending dates and adding new bookings as guests change their plans. For customers on vacation, being able to shift a booking without any fuss makes the experience feel effortless.

Supporting an award-winning brand

OriMar Bikes has received TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award every year from 2020 to 2026, and the plan is to continue building its reputation as the go-to name for bike rental in the region. Running the business alone across such a wide service area means the back office needs to work quietly and reliably, without adding extra admin to an already busy day.

As the owner summed it up, Booqable provides “everything I need in one space.” That’s exactly the kind of system that lets the focus stay on the ride.
