SIDEREUS was founded in 2017 in Milan. It focuses on providing audiovisual equipment to independent film companies and video makers. When making the transition to online bookings, it required a system that could calculate rental periods and charges, connect the online store and inventory, and manage equipment across multiple devices. The team’s search led them to Booqable, which has enabled them to start accepting online bookings without any hassle.

In 2017, Federico Di Liddo founded SIDEREUS in Milan, Italy, to empower creative teams in the area. As a lecturer at the SAE Institute, he has extensive experience with young filmmakers and saw the need for such a service. The aim is to help these creatives achieve their goals without overpaying for equipment and promote access to equipment by sharing its knowledge with the community.
It offers a complete range of audiovisual equipment for every part of the filmmaking process, including cameras, lenses, production kits, microphones, drones, mixers, teleprompters, lighting, and grips. They also offer curated bundles based on different use cases, from short films to documentaries, audio broadcasts, streaming, and handheld recording.
SIDEREUS primarily focuses on working with independent film companies and videomakers, but it occasionally works with individuals, too. The majority of its clients are within the city of Milan, but it is beginning to work with people from across the EU who are shooting in the city. Currently, they work with a team of four but are hoping to add a fifth member soon to create their dream team.
Finding the perfect management system
In early 2024, the SIDEREUS team began planning to offer online booking for its rental services. To make it work best, they had a specific list of requirements for their system of choice. It had to be able to calculate rental days following its commercial policies, have a management system that communicates directly with the content of its website, and be usable across multiple devices by all team members.
When searching for an appropriate rental management system, they discovered Booqable. They quickly realized it would be an “extremely smart system for all of the above” and began working to integrate it with their WordPress website. They chose to implement the individual booking components within their own design, giving them complete creative freedom.
With Booqable, customers can choose their equipment, find availability, and know exactly what they’ll pay instantly. The integration is connected to the backend inventory and booking management, which means all the information on the website is correct and in real time. In addition, as it is cloud-based, it can be used across multiple devices. The mobile app provides access to information from anywhere, including while packing orders in the warehouse.
100% growth
This year, SIDEREUS has experienced 100% growth since implementing online bookings. The team plans to start offering delivery across the entire city of Milan, allowing them to help more clients. In addition, they want to offer a wider range of equipment to satisfy incoming clients from all over Europe. This will also extend to their website which they plan to translate into at least two more languages.
