The path isn’t always clear when leaving a stable job to start your own business. In 2021, Shantay left her university position to pursue event planning but soon discovered her true passion lay in event rentals. After establishing her business in Oklahoma, she boldly moved to relocate it entirely to Puerto Rico, where she now provides event rental services across the island.
From Oklahoma to Puerto Rico
Shantay started her business journey as an event planner but quickly realized she enjoyed the rental aspect more than planning. She focused her business on providing comprehensive rental packages that include tables, chairs, and tablecloths, with optional upgrades like cocktail tables, audio equipment, and table runners. Every package includes delivery, setup, pickup, and breakdown service.
Her clients range from people hosting intimate gatherings in their garage to those organizing large ticketed events and weddings. The business stands out by offering streamlined rental packages that can be set up anywhere from oceanside locations to venues and homes across Puerto Rico.
One of her most significant achievements was successfully relocating her entire business from Oklahoma to Puerto Rico. This involved shipping all the original inventory to the island and completely redesigning her website and marketing to establish the company in its new home.
Rental periods and inventory tracking
Before adopting Booqable, Shantay used platforms like IONOS and Jotform, but these solutions had limitations. The most significant challenge was managing equipment return dates. Her previous systems only allowed her to set pickup dates without accounting for returns, which is crucial for rental businesses.

She can quickly return items to inventory after each order is completed.

Clients have found this booking flow to be much easier to navigate than on her previous website.
Growing in Puerto Rico
As the sole owner and operator of Shantay V Events, she manages all aspects of the business herself. Over the next five years, she plans to establish contracts with venues across Puerto Rico.
