How Wreck'd Productions Uses Bundles to Simplify Podcast and Recording Studio Rentals

Reasons for choosing Booqable

Product bundles: Created custom bundles for studio rentals, ensuring that recording spaces could only be booked if essential staff and equipment were available.

WordPress integration: Embedded Booqable components into their WordPress website, creating a structured booking experience with step-by-step add-ons and services.

Inventory management: Automated inventory tracking and real-time availability updates prevented scheduling conflicts and ensured that all necessary components were available for bookings.

Managing a podcast and recording studio requires more than just booking time slots—it involves coordinating staff, equipment, and custom service packages tailored to each client’s needs. For James, the owner of Wreck’d Productions, their previous rental software presented many challenges in making a smooth booking experience possible. He was unable to present an easy process for offering add-ons, allow for easy order upgrades for sound or cinematography services, and create the right expectations for their clients. The studio’s goal was clear: they needed an intuitive, visually rich, and user-friendly system that allowed clients to book a music or podcast recording studio session effortlessly. After extensive research, James found the perfect solution in Booqable.

Adapting Booqable to studio rentals

Unlike traditional rental businesses, Wreck’d Productions needed a booking system that could handle both physical spaces and essential staff, like sound engineers and technical directors. With Booqable’s flexibility, James adjusted the platform by setting up recording studios as Booqable products and using bundles to integrate staffing requirements. This solution prevented scheduling conflicts while allowing for an efficient use of resources.

“Booqable gave us the flexibility we needed to manage both our studio spaces and essential staff seamlessly,” James explained. “With the software, we were able to set up studios and staff as rental products and bundled them together so one was not booked without the other.”

Additionally, the ability to connect Booqable with external platforms with Zapier also ensures that studio availability is accurately reflected for their entire team and the different rental platforms they are listed on.

“We use Zapier to communicate with our Google Calendar, which in turn updates listings on other rental platforms we take bookings through,” James explained. “This has meant that we never double-book our spaces and don’t have to manually update the other platforms.”

The power of bundles in managing studio availability

One of the biggest challenges in managing a recording space is ensuring that all necessary components—such as staff and equipment—are available at the time of booking. With Booqable’s bundling feature, Wreck’d Productions was able to structure its system so that a recording space could only be reserved if a sound director or technical equipment was also available.

“In Booqable, I was able to assign an accessory product like a microphone as a required inventory item on both the podcast and music recording studio bundles,” James shared. “This way, if a client books a session in one studio, that same staff member is automatically blocked from being scheduled for another booking at the same time. This gave us a guarantee that the studios would not be booked at the same time and cause sound obstruction to the other.”

Creating better booking workflows on WordPress

One of the most useful improvements came from Booqable’s embeddable components, which allowed Wreck’d Productions to create a structured, step-by-step booking experience on their WordPress website. Customers can now select their main rental option—whether it’s the Black Box studio or the podcast recording space—before being guided through relevant add-ons.

“Today’s generation of consumers don’t want to think too much—they just want to click, book, and go,” James noted. “With our old system, our customers had to manually select upgrades through dropdown menus, and they didn’t always know what they needed. With Booqable, I can offer the services and add-ons using the embedded product cards that include images, making it much easier for customers to see their different options.”

Instead of sifting through text-based selections, clients can now easily select additional services like cinematography, editing, or extra equipment—all in a way that feels intuitive and engaging.

The impact of an adaptable booking system

Since adopting Booqable, Wreck’d Productions has seen a noticeable improvement in the efficiency of its booking process. While some unique industry-specific challenges required creative solutions, James found that Booqable’s user-friendly interface and flexible structure made it possible to build a system tailored to his needs.

“It is a really great software. I love how visually rich it is, how easy it was to integrate with WordPress, and how it makes our workflow so much smoother,” he said. With an improved system in place, Wreck’d Productions can now focus on delivering high-quality recording and production services while giving clients an effortless booking experience.
